About Us - Our School

Hello and welcome!  My name is Vickie, the principal of TLF Dance Centre. I am a Licentiate member of the International Dance Teachers Association (Freestyle and Line Dancing) and a Level 2 Wheelchair Dance Instructor. I have been teaching dance in Nailsea since 2000.

Our school has a variety of classes for all ages and abilities in which we aim to stretch and challenge all our pupils, while maintaining our ethos of Fun, Fitness and Friendship.  We teach every class in a way that allows the individual to see their own progress and gain the best from our classes.  We do this by providing our students with the opportunity to learn and to develop in both technique and perhaps more importantly, confidence.

We offer the opportunity for all our pupils to take I.D.T.A. medal tests in Freestyle, Line Dance and Street Dance; participate in our shows and take part in a number of community events at various times during the year.  We believe that public performance offers a unique learning opportunity that can benefit almost everyone; however, it is always our students who make the decision about taking part in a performance.  We always offer them the opportunity after full discussion and support each individual to make their own choice.

We have a great team of assistants who are enthusiastic and totally supportive of all our classes and activities.

my sister Sue has supported us from the very start. She has a lot of experience in dealing with all types of people and brings a great deal of patience and humour to all aspects of the school. She is also our brilliantly talented wardrobe mistress and costume designer.  Sue never seems to run out of ideas and what she can create from old curtains and a few sequins has to be seen to be believed!

My daughter Becky is my assistant teacher and a fantastic choreographer bringing a wealth of experience and training to our classes.  Becky spent three years studying Professional Musical Theatre at the WAC Performing Arts Conservatoire in London.  Studying a diverse range of subjects such as African Dance, Pilates and Horton as well as the more usual subjects such as Singing, Musical Theory, Ballet and Jazz. She has worked professionally since leaving the conservatoire including appearing in films and stage productions.

We use a very wide range of music and movement styles to ensure that everyone is stretched in both body and mind and interest is maintained at a high level.  Many of our members started with us while at Infant School and have stayed with until making the transition into work, college or University during their time with us.

We also have a very successful dance and drama section for people with disabilities or additional needs.  We have close connections with North Somerset Council both Children and Young People Services and the Sport and Active Lifestyles Team.

Full details of all our classes can be found by clicking on the "Classes" tab in the menu.

We work with North Somerset Council’s Sport and Active Lifestyles Team to promote more physical activity within North Somerset.
