About Us - Our School

Hello and welcome!  My name is Vickie, the principal of TLF Dance Centre.  I am a Licentiate member of the International Dance Teachers Association (Freestyle and Line Dancing) and a Level 2 Instructor with the Wheelchair Dance Sport Association (UK).  I have been teaching dance in Nailsea since 2000.

Our school offers a variety of classes for all ages and abilities in which we aim to stretch and challenge all our pupils, while maintaining our ethos of Fun, Fitness and Friendship.  We teach every class in a way that allows the individual to reach their full potential and gain the best from our classes.  We do this by providing every member with the opportunity to learn and to develop in both technique and confidence.

We are now adding wheelchair dance classes to our syllabus starting on 22nd September 2014.  We have received funding from North Somerset Council to purchase a sports wheelchair which will be put to very good use in the new class.

We offer the opportunity for all our members to take I.D.T.A. medal tests in Freestyle, Line Dance and Street Dance; participate in our annual shows and take part in a number of community events at various times during the year.  We believe that public performance offers a unique learning opportunity that can benefit almost everyone; however it is always our students who make the decision about taking part in a performance.  We always offer them the opportunity after full discussion and support each individual to make their own choice.

We have a great team of assistants who are enthusiastic and totally supportive of all our classes and activities.  In particular my sister Sue who has supported us in all our activities since we started.  She has a lot of experience in dealing with all types of people and brings a great deal of patience and humour to all aspects of the school.   She is also our brilliantly talented wardrobe mistress and costume designer.  Sue never seems to run out of ideas and what she can create from old curtains and a few sequins has to be seen to be believed!

We use a very wide range of music and movement to ensure that everyone is stretched in both body and mind.  Many of our members started with us while at Infant School and have made the transition to work or University during their time with us.

In the past few years we have added a very successful dance and drama section for people with disabilities or additional needs with the support of North Somerset Council's Children and Young People Services and the Sport and Active Lifestyles Team.

Full details of all our classes can be found by clicking on the  "Classes" tab in the menu.  New and exciting classes are being planned for Autumn 2014 - look out for local advertising and watch our web site for news of some interesting new sessions starting soon.

If you are looking for a dance school that is different to any other in the area; offers excellent training and exciting opportunities to participate in many dance or drama related activities, you would be welcome to visit one of our classes to see what we do.
